I wasn't going to go for a walk with my friend around the lake.
She called in the morning and asked if we were going to walk today.
I had dirty dishes still in the sink.
The bed wasn't made yet.
Clothes were sitting in the dryer waiting to be folded.
I had errands to run.
Blogs to read.
Calls to make.
And piles of "stuff" to be put away.
Her to-do list was just as big as mine...if not bigger.
We were too busy.
But we went anyway.
It felt so good to get moving and just breathe.
And notice the wonder of nature.
If I had stayed home I would have missed...
a white egret gliding down & gently landing on the lake.
a gaggle of geese wandering by the shore.
the beautiful red, yellow & orange leaves on the trees.
the cutest squirrel nibbling away on his treasured nut.
a beautiful white lily flower in bloom in a lily pad.
the every day miracles of life.
The next time my friend calls and asks "can you go on a walk today?"
I think you know what my answer will be...
Why are we "too busy" that we forget to breathe and enjoy life? What is so important that it won't let you live? What's on your "to-do" list that can wait a few hours?
